Ambitious, busy, and determined would be the first words that come to mind when one meets Kendra Willis. Currently, she is employed by both Galena Park ISD and Pasadena ISD, where she manages and teaches special needs and general population children grades K-12. Kendra is also the proud owner of Sugar Gallery, making an assortment of cakes and pies weekly and for the holidays. With all this in mind, Kendra considers her beautiful daughter, Kyndall, to be her finest accomplishment.
When Kyndall was only 6 months old, Kendra suffered a spinal cord injury due to a shooting incident. Kendra has found motherhood to be the driving force behind her passion to face the sometimes insurmountable challenges that her injury can present. Kendra has become independent and pursued financial freedom, all while raising her daughter as a single mother. Kendra Willis has made the impossible to become possible in her life.
Now, when Kendra is not busy teaching or running her own business, you will find her accompanying her daughter across the country as she competes in dance and cheer competitions and large on-stage productions. Kendra’s future goals are to become a motivational speaker and to publish her book that would share her revolutionary expertise with her peers. As Ms. Wheelchair Texas 2017, Kendra Willis’s platform is to share her passion for self-advocacy, self-empowerment, and inclusion for other women who share her disability.
